Last week, the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom Türkiye Office hosted a vibrant gathering, titled "Welcome to 2024: New Projects and Hopes for Freedom." The event, held at our partner Freedom Research Association's Ankara office, provided a platform for individuals passionate about freedom to come together, exchange ideas, and foster connections.

The evening commenced with a warm reception, where attendees were welcomed by Beate Apelt, Head of FNF Türkiye and Bican Şahin, former Head of FRA. Şahin received the honorary “Guru Award” for promoting the idea of freedom in Türkiye and his year-long collaboration with FNF.

Highlight of the event was the interactive session titled "Exploring the World of Freedom - How well do we know each other?", where the partners, alumni and friends tested their knowledge on FNF in form of a game. This lively exchange not only entertained but also encouraged deeper reflection on our collaboration in Türkiye. Divided in three groups, the winning team was gifted.

As the evening progressed, the event transitioned into a networking session where attendees seized the opportunity to forge new connections, share insights, and brainstorm potential collaborations.

This event in Ankara set the stage for a year of meaningful projects and collective efforts towards realizing the aspirations for a freer and more just society.
