The Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF) is a German foundation devoted to the promotion of liberal principles and to political education, both in Germany and abroad. FNF opened its office in Vietnam in September 2012 with a wide range of topics: Provincial Competitiveness Index, Free Trade Agreements, Market economy and Smart City. Our partners include Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), Viet Nam Institute for Economic and Policy Research (VEPR), University of Economics and Business (VNU-UEB), Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and other organisations. Global Europe – Global Expectations
Today, we are experiencing that the European Union and its model of democratic societies are losing their worldwide popularity. The growing global influence of actors with values, political systems, and worldviews that are diametrically opposing to those of the EU, as well as the renaissance of geopolitical blocs (as evidenced by the abstention of some states in the UN in condemning Russia's war of aggression), further reinforce this trend. In the new era of geopolitics, characterized by strategic rivalry between authoritarian states on the one hand and liberal democracies on the other, these are alarming signs. In order to prevail against authoritarian regimes, the liberal model of EU democratic societies must regain its attractiveness in the world.

FNF – FRASER – FTU: Seminar on "Trade Liberalization for Regional Economic Integration"
On the morning of December 7, 2022, Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF) and the Fraser Institute collaborated with Hanoi Foreign Trade University (FTU) to organize a scientific discussion on the topic “Trade Liberalization for Regional Economic Integration”. The seminar is an essential component of the Asia regional economic freedom meeting conducted by the Fraser Institute and the FNF Southeast and East Asia.

FNF Vietnam - A decade for Freedom and Economic Development
On November 14, 2022, in Hanoi, the 10th anniversary of the FNF Office in Vietnam took place in Hanoi with the presence of his Excellency, Dr. Guido Hildner, the Ambassador of Germany. On this special occasion, FNF Vietnam also welcomed a high-level delegation from Germany including CEO - Ms. Annett Witte; Head of the International Department - Mr. René Klaff; and other FNF's Country Directors from Southeast Asia and East Asia to attend.

The Journalist Training Programme of 2022 has begun!
The LGBTQ+ community is still a marginalized group in Southeast and East Asia. Behind the headlines, the community still lack legislative protection of their civil liberties such as laws on gender recognition and equality in marriage. FNF Southeast and East Asia (SEEA) is supporting young journalists to dig deep into the stories behind the headlines of various discrimination and subliminal hostility that is still experience by the LGBTQ+ community in the region.

“Smart Finance”, FNF’s financial education initiative for Young Vietnamese
The goal of becoming rich quickly unites many young Vietnamese. However, due to the lack of financial expertise, a growing number of people lose money every year in Ponzi schemes and obscure investment projects. Our new project of video series co-hosted with Lao Dong Newspaper, one of Vietnamese largest newspapers, has pioneered to launch a financial education initiative called “Tai chinh thong minh / Smart Finance“.
