"Refugees: Priorities vs. Reality" Podcast

Podcast

Refugee youth in the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region encounter a multitude of challenges that obstruct their path to a brighter future. These hurdles encompass limited access to education, healthcare, and essential services, coupled with a dearth of opportunities for employment and personal development. As a consequence, many refugee youth find themselves adrift, lacking a sense of belonging or optimism for what lies ahead.

Addressing the Needs of Refugee Youth:

The "Refugees: Priorities vs. Reality" project has been launched with a mission to shed light on these pressing issues and to cater to the specific requirements of refugee youth. By fostering collaborations with both Anera and iLearn, this project endeavors to generate insightful reports and impactful videos that will serve as essential advocacy tools. These resources are aimed at providing policymakers, NGOs, and stakeholders with profound insights into the dreams and aspirations of refugee youth.

Key Insights from Focus Groups:

The project's reports will encapsulate crucial findings gleaned from focus group discussions. These findings encompass the most pressing challenges confronting refugee youth, their aspirations for the future, and the hurdles that obstruct their path to achieving these aspirations.

Amplifying Voices Through Podcast Videos:

In tandem with the reports, the project will produce five podcast videos. These videos will feature candid interviews with refugee youth advisors, refugee experts, and FNF coordinators from Jordan, Lebanon, Jerusalem, Tunisia, and Morocco. Through these interviews, refugee youth will openly share their stories and perspectives, providing them with a potent platform to raise awareness about their experiences and amplify their voices. These videos will not only spotlight the struggles faced by refugee youth but also humanize the refugee crisis, bridging the empathy gap and fostering greater understanding and compassion within society.

Dissemination and Awareness:

The culmination of this endeavor will be a regional event scheduled for November 2023 in Jordan. This event will serve as a platform to showcase the project's findings and share them with decision-makers, stakeholders, youth advisors, and refugee experts. Through this dissemination, the project aims to catalyze positive change, inspire action, and create a more supportive environment for refugee youth in the MENA region.

Conclusion:

The "Refugees: Priorities vs. Reality" project is poised to make a meaningful difference in the lives of refugee youth in the MENA region. By shedding light on their challenges, aspirations, and voices, it aspires to pave the way for a brighter, more inclusive future where these resilient young individuals can thrive and contribute to society.
