Political Reforms through AI Summer School

AI Summer School 2022

In collaboration with Riyada for Social Innovation, we held our annual summer school at Beirut Digital District from the 23rd to the 26th of June 2022.

The trainers covered a range of subjects in a series of training sessions that touched upon social entrepreneurship, social innovation in politics, technological politics, and the role of data science and AI in enhancing the transparency of governmental institutions. The four-day workshop also provided the attendees with a range of soft skills and technical training sessions, including introductions to using technology to innovate politics, the stages of design thinking in social innovation, introductions to data science and artificial intelligence with practical applications, team building, and areas of political reform in Lebanon

The students were then split in teams, each of which selected an idea to focus on, and mentorship and practice pitches were held to help the participants present their ideas.

The pitches were held on the last day of the Summer School. Each team presented their creative business solution for three minutes, followed by questions from our judges Samer Sharafeddeen, Halima Kaakour, and Kristof Kleemann.

"Transparagency", a platform that provides AI-based solutions for public procurement in municipalities, won first place and received a Laptop Power Bank from our partner as a prize. All the other teams will be provided with ongoing coaching and mentoring from our partner as well!
