Jerusalem Office
Request for Proposal: LGBTQ+ Podcast Series

Send in proposals until February 13th, 2022

Brief Project Overview:

The Jerusalem office of Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF Jerusalem) is looking for a service provider to produce a podcast series on LGBT+ communities around the globe in English and Hebrew.

Who we are

With a unique Israeli-Palestinian team, FNF Jerusalem aims to be a platform of innovation for enhancing freedom in society, strengthening dialogue with the EU and contribute to the advancement of Israeli-Palestinian dialogue leading towards peace. Together with our partners, we want to strengthen liberal values like the rule of law and democracy, the respect of human dignity with civil and human rights, market economy principles and entrepreneurship and a democratic culture of tolerance and pluralism.

Project Goals and Target Audience

In the last decades we could witness improvements regarding the social and legal status of LGBTQ+ communities. These developments find their realization in flourishing LGBTQ+ communities particularly in democratic countries, in metropolitan cities like Tel Aviv, Berlin New York, Los Angeles etc. Beyond these hotspots however, LGBTQ+ communities in peripheries (local and global) and in many non- or semi-democratic countries are in a dire state and subject to prejudices, social and systematic discrimination as well as to severe violations of their human rights. Hence, the situation of LGBTQ+ communities in Israel and in a global perspective is complex and far from what we as liberals would want to see, especially in the 21st century. With a series of English and Hebrew podcast episodes we want to shed light on the life of LGBTQ+ communities in peripheries, connect global LGBTQ+ stories and communities and  promote understanding, tolerance and other core liberal values, both to English speaking as to Hebrew speaking audiences and both to “straight” as LGBTQ+ audiences.

Scope of Work and Deliverables

We need a service provider that can produce a series of 18 podcasts, out of which a minimum of 6 should be in English dedicated to communities in different countries with interviewees from the selected countries, the remaining 12 should be in Hebrew  (preferable one of these episodes in Arabic) about Global LGBTQ+ issues igniting a reflection on liberal values and a liberal debate on LGBTQ+ related issues. Interviewees can be academics, activists and individuals of global and local (Arabic and Jewish) LGBTQ+ communities. The service provider needs to showcase being able to produce such podcasts at high quality and being able to reach relevant “straight” and LGBTQ+ audiences.

Criteria for Selection, Timeline and Budget

We expect you to send a proposal including a price offer per event for the production of these 18 episodes (final product incl. all stages of preproduction/production/post-production/distribution) and provide information of your experience with producing podcasts and reaching relevant audiences.

Deadline for submission is February 13th, 2022

Please send to Joanna Kamel at joanna.kamel@freiheit.org.

You can also send links to similar podcasts you have produced in the past. We will then select according to the criteria of quality, creativity, ability to reach the relevant audiences and price.
