Nanny State

  • The 1920s blues song “Tain't Nobody's Biz-ness if I Do”, made famous by great singers like Sarah Martin or Bessie Smith, encapsulates the core message of liberalism: As long as you don’t harm others, you should be free to follow your own ways.

  • However, governments have a long record of brutally persecuting people for “victimless crimes” (such as the consumption of marihuana) or activities of consenting adults (e.g. homosexuality). The consequences were terrible.

  • We need government to protect our right to freedom, not a paternalistic nanny state that pretends to know better what is good for us than we do.

IAF - Nanny State

Overcrowded prisons and the rise of organized crime around the world have resulted from the state banning its citizens from the small pleasure of rolling a joint. Thank goodness the realization has spread in some states that this was the wrong approach. Marijuana is already legal in many countries. With this in mind we should treat ourselves to a good cup of tea with a properly themed mug.
