Empowering young Greeks to use social media for social change.

Τhe Center for Liberal Studies, with the support of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation Greece and Cyprus, hosted a spirited event on June 1st to discuss how young people can use social media to make a difference.

The event featured three speakers:

Nefeli Meg, a lawyer, YouTuber, and stand-up comedian, shared her experiences of working in social media to raise awareness about important issues. She also talked about her journey from the first steps to success in the social media world.

Ioanna Fotopoulou, an entrepreneur and social media pirate, discussed how to build a successful social media presence. She shared practical tips for social media professionals, such as how to create content that is relevant to your target audience.

Takis Karagiannis, Director of Communications at ActionAid Hellas, discussed how civil society organizations can use social media to promote their work. He talked about how social media can be used to connect with supporters, raise awareness about a cause, and mobilize people to take action.

The event was well-attended by young people who are interested in using social media for social change. They learned about the power of social media to raise awareness, mobilize people, and create positive change and discussed with the speakers all aspects of the current social media environment.

The event also served as a first step towards creating a network of young people who are passionate about using social media for good. Several participants expressed their interest in contributing to future events and projects.

This event was the first of three Change it All events that will lead to an intensive educational program in the Fall of 2023 organized by FNF Greece & Cyprus and the Center for Liberal Studies. The program will build on the knowledge and skills that young people gained at these events, and it will provide them with the skills, tools, and the game plan they need to make a positive difference in the world.
