Freedom Team Interview: Friedrich Otto Neumann in Focus

Meet our Intern
Otto

His name is Friedrich Naumann. Jokes aside, "Friedrich Otto Neumann". That ‘joke’ really only works in this foundation.

According to him he’s delighted to be part of the FNF team on a temporary basis.
He grew up in Berlin, where he also completed his A-levels. After that, he got a taste of many different areas until he joined us. All these areas demanded a resourceful, communicative commitment, which he has retained.

The insight he has gained into the foundation so far has been a positive surprise. There is a clear focus on the future and the goals are well defined. The events and presentations of various projects make it easy to recognise what is being worked towards. This creates a very motivating working atmosphere.

Unfortunately, we find ourselves in a time in which authoritarian tendencies are on the rise, which is why it is more important than ever to uphold and strengthen democratic values. Otto is firmly convinced that the work here at the Friedrich Naumann Foundation helps to keep this discourse alive and consolidate the foundations of democracy.

He is deeply convinced that democracy and freedom are inextricably linked and that it is always worth standing up for them. In Ottos eyes, it would be a mistake to take democracy for granted. That is why he is glad that the FNF actively promotes it and takes on the task of preventing it from eroding.

In addition to his work here locally, he is also a fan of equal opportunities in his private life and volunteers as a tutor for a pupil who did not grow up with German as his mother tongue.

One last fun fact: Otto learnt how to solve a Rubik's Cube during the pandemic. He can now do it in under a minute. What you do with this information is up to you.
