The Friedrich Naumann Foundation Beirut Office is focused on Lebanon and it's people. Regional and local turmoil makes the work of the foundation in this country challenging, forcing our office in Beirut to constantly adapt to new social and political changes.In Lebanon, our main objective is to support Lebanese start-ups, civil society organizations and liberal political parties while raising awareness about political education, female empowerement and durable development.

Beirut River: Portrait & Injection
Studio Madane engages its youth in a project called ‘The Beirut River: Portrait and Injections’, with the aspiration to engage the members in socio political reform and decision-making through research and practice. In its mission to channel ideals and slogans into practical and result-oriented action plans, Madane develops the workflow model that it will employ internally and collaboratively with FNF.

Sprout: Growing Green Entrepreneurs
In cooperation with Injaz Lebanon, we have wrapped up the second edition of Sprout to support early-stage entrepreneurs who have a start-up idea entailing a focus on one or more aspects of sustainability. Aside from the learning process, participating teams got to network and develop their idea, as well as gained exposure to the ecosystem of green entrepreneurs, mentors and investors.

LAU Simulation Models
On October 15, we launched this year’s simulation models in partnership with LAU. More than 500 students alone attended the first training session of the Model Good Governance (MGG) program, and more than 3,000 engaged students took part in our simulation models that day.

Human Rights Work under attack the Case of Iraq and Lebanon
FNF organized the in-person seminar “Human Rights Work under attack the Case of Iraq and Lebanon” in partnership with the International Federation of Liberal Youth and in collaboration with the Iraqi Organization, Sasa Iraq, and the Lebanese Organization, Nahnoo, to connect civic activists from the two countries, and to identify common challenges for Iraqi and Lebanese Civic spaces.

The expatriates’ (expats) vote in the 2022 Lebanese parliamentary elections has been a frequently discussed topic, with respect to its impact on the results and the role it played helping the Change Movement and independent groups secure additional seats. As part of a series of in-depth research papers on the 2022 parliamentary elections, the Electoral Lab at IFI drew an analysis of the voting trends of the Lebanese Expats or the Out of Country Vote (OCV).
