The Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom has been present in Greece since 2012 and is based in Athens. By strengthening liberal forces and conveying liberal values and positions, the Greece Office contributes to the development and consolidation of a pluralist democracy and an open, market economy and rule of law in Greece. It is committed to preserving freedom of action with the aim of strengthening European values in Greece.
#ALGREE: 1st MORE Media Report
The Media Observatory Reports (MORE) are part of the multilayered project #ALGREE Project implemented by the South-East Europe Programme of ELIAMEP. Each MORE is the fruit of systematic monitoring of key Greek and Albania media and offers a well-balanced mix of political insight and fact-driven analysis on the impact of Albanian media reporting of Greece and Greek media reporting of Albania on issues of common interest. It aims to filter out the noise that typically accompanies the media stories on the unresolved bilateral issues.
Miracles happen all the time
According to official figures, the devastating earthquake in south-eastern Turkey on 6 February killed almost 50,000 people and destroyed entire regions. But in addition to all the damage and suffering caused by the earthquake, there were also many miracles - such as the rescue of numerous people from the ruins even after almost 300 hours after the earthquake. Another miracle concerns the rapprochement between the eternal enemies Greece and Turkey.
Call for Applications: "Safety for Journalists" Training Academy
In this demanding times, the International and Peace Journalism Lab of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki took the initiative three years ago to create a pioneer training program for professionals and young journalists interested in visiting war zones, which soon proved to be extremely useful in practice for the trainees. The program will be available this year, with the aim of providing professionals and young students with all the necessary knowledge to face the challenges of the modern war and conflict field.

Greek and Turkish Media: Challenges and Opportunities
In the 50th episode of the Athens Voice's podcast «Sundays of the World» with Nikos S. Panagiotou and Christos A. Frangonikolopoulos, participants and organizers of the visiting program "Encountering the 'Fox News Model': Media Polarisation as a Serious Threat to Liberal Democracies," present how the devastating earthquakes in Turkey changed the media landscape in both countries and they emphasize on the will for further bilateral cooperation and enhancement of the media landscape between Greece and Turkey, in order to establish trust.
Being Women in a country under attack
One year has passed since the armed attack by Russia against Ukraine and the ensuing hostilities have brought the most severe forms of human rights and international humanitarian law violations into the everyday lives of people in Ukraine, putting at risk countless lives, and causing massive displacement and destruction of civilian infrastructure. Arguably, hundreds of women and girls in Ukraine have become victims of sexual assault and torture committed by the Russian army and reports have documented the increasing use of rape as a weapon of war.
ΙΙΙ. Youth Cooperation Without Borders
In an effort to achieve cooperation and common action at a trilateral level, the organization SEE in Action, with the support of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom Greece and Cyprus, undertook the third part of the project “Strengthening bonds between alienated neighbors in the region: Greece, Bulgaria, North Macedonia”, with the topic natural/ civil environment and sustainability.
