The Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF) promotes democracy, human rights, economic freedom, and curbing climate change. In Southeast and East Asia, we have offices in Bangkok, Hanoi, Jakarta, Manila, Seoul, Taipei, and Yangon. We also work in Malaysia. The FNF regional team works with the Council of Asian Liberals and Democrats, the Working group for an ASEAN Human Rights Mechanism, the Asia Centre, and the ASEAN Prosperity Initiative, which is part of the Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs. Xi Jinping has ruled out the prospect of peaceful unification with Taiwan
Whatever view one takes on the appropriateness of the timing of the proposed trip to Taiwan by US House Speaker, Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi, the response from the Chinese Government, reflect a belligerence. Beijing has threatened both privately and publicly to escalate tensions in the Taiwan Strait in response, including the prospect of intercepting the Speaker’s plane or introducing a No-Fly Zone over the island.

“Smart Finance”, FNF’s financial education initiative for Young Vietnamese
The goal of becoming rich quickly unites many young Vietnamese. However, due to the lack of financial expertise, a growing number of people lose money every year in Ponzi schemes and obscure investment projects. Our new project of video series co-hosted with Lao Dong Newspaper, one of Vietnamese largest newspapers, has pioneered to launch a financial education initiative called “Tai chinh thong minh / Smart Finance“.

Dictator's son Marcos Jr. sworn in as Philippine President
36 years after the fall of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos Sr, his son Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr, took his oath as the 17th Philippine president. During the election campaign, the Marcos family embellished their image and revised the narrative of the dictatorship.
