Wie kann die EU politisch geeint werden, um als globaler Akteur auf Augenhöhe die liberale Weltordnung zu verteidigen? Weltweit suchen wir nach Antworten, um die freie Welt zu verteidigen. 2023 geht es darum, zu erarbeiten, wie die Zusammenarbeit der EU mit der jeweiligen Weltregion konkret gestärkt werden kann. Dazu sammeln wir innovative Ideen im Rahmen einer weltweiten Hackathon-Reihe und regen insbesondere junge Menschen dazu an, zu überlegen, wie die Beziehung der EU zu der jeweiligen Weltregion ausgestaltet werden soll. Über die Hackathons
Das Hackathon-Format ermöglicht es den jungen Teilnehmern, in Teams zu arbeiten, um Politik-Strategien, Projekte oder Kampagnen zur Verbesserung der Beziehungen zwischen der EU und ihrer Region zu initiieren. Auf der Grundlage des Policy Papers „Global Europe – Global Expectations“ entwickeln sie ihre Ideen - und präsentieren sie. Die Gewinner der Hackathons werden zur Jahreskonferenz der Stiftung nach Berlin eingeladen.

ECOnectados, das multikulturelle Projekt eines lateinamerikanischen Teams, gewinnt #NaumannHack in Lateinamerika

DigiFemmes Wins First Prize At The Hackathon “Youth Voices”
The Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom organised an inventive event known as a hackathon. It brought participants together to brainstorm novel ideas and craft digital solutions over the course of three days. These participants were guided by three coaches throughout the process. A total of 43 teams, consisting of 2 to 3 members each, engaged in this hackathon. Out of these, 14 groups successfully advanced to the final stage, held on the same day, August 10th.

Hackathon on Strengthening Dialogue and Cooperation between South Asia and the European Union on LGBTQIA+ Rights
Die Friedrich-Naumann-Stiftung Südasien organisierte den Hackathon "LGBTQIA+ Matters" in Colombo. Ziel der Veranstaltung war es, den Austausch und die Zusammenarbeit zwischen Südasien und der Europäischen Union zu LGBTQIA+-Rechten zu fördern. LGBTQIA+-Aktivisten, Fachleute, Anwälte und Regierungsvertreter aus 12 Ländern präsentierten in Teams innovative Ideen zur Lösung wichtiger Fragen wie Bildung, Zugang zum Gesundheitswesen, integrative Arbeitsplätze und die Schaffung sicherer Online-Räume.
Reshape Europe Hackathon
The Friedrich Naumann Foundation North America hosted its Reshape Europe Hackathon in Washington, DC, from May 13 to 17, 2023, with the theme "How can we make the EU more visible in the United States?". Four two-person teams conceptualized and proposed methods to achieve this goal. They were given three days to work on their proposals, after which they presented their finished product to the judging panel, and a winning team was selected.
Building a Stronger Europe: Young Liberals Propose Solutions to Reshape Europe as Global Actor
From 11th to 13th May, the European Dialogue of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation and the European Liberal Youth (LYMEC) invited 15 young liberals from 13 EU Member States to their regional Policy Hackathon in Lisbon. With the goal of strengthening the EU as a Global Actor, participants were tasked to explore innovative ideas on four key topics concerning the European Union's role in the world. The "Strengthen the EU as a Global Actor" Policy Hackathon in Lisbon was a resounding success, fostering collaboration and innovative thinking among young liberals from across Europe.

where groups of tech-savvy contestants tackle an IT or coding issue. This concept has gained popularity in recent years beyond the tech sphere and found great traction in the political environment. Over the course of several days (and sometimes even several stages), teams of creative and open-minded young people proposed innovative policies or project ideas on how to strengthen the EU’s role across the globe and how to foster democratic cooperation with other world regions.
