Leadership and Youth are often perceived as an antagonism, especially in more conservative societies. This has led to a monopolization of leadership positions by boomers who dominate business, academia, and politics. The time has come for Millennials and GenZ to strike back. FNF Turkey has put the issue of leadership and youth high on the agenda in an ongoing effort to contribute to a more democratic, responsible, active and, in the end also, politically more aware society.

Human rights and data protection are not at their best in Turkey. The Corona crisis has not changed that to the better. Actually, the opposite seems to be the case. "We are observing a deterioration of liberal rights," says Can Selcuki, Director of the polling institute Istanbul Economics Research, at the presentation of the survey on the perspectives of the Turkish population on privacy and personal liberties.

Report on Freedom of the Press in Turkey

Domestically, all critical groups complain about the government’s pressure on media more than ever before. In this context, Freedom Research Association has been monitoring the state of the freedom of the press since 2014. The latest report is titled ‘The Freedom of Press in Turkey: 2019-2020 Report’ and has been prepared by Burak Bilgehan Özpek. It is addressing the state of the press freedom in Turkey from January 1st of the year 2019 to June 21, 2020.
