Week 2 of the Naumann School of Politics
Strengthening Dialogue and Confidence

NSOP

The second week of the Naumann School of Politics (NSOP) unfolded with a deeper sense of engagement, reflection, and practical experience. After laying a strong foundation in the first week, participants returned with even greater enthusiasm — ready to connect liberal ideas with real-world communication. The sessions this weekend focused on what it means to express ideas clearly, engage in open dialogue, and build confidence as future liberal leaders.

From Liberal Ideas to Liberal Practice

The week opened with an insightful session by Ramzi Khoury, who introduced participants to a deeper understanding of liberalism within the Jordanian and regional context. Through open discussion, he encouraged participants to reflect on the connection between freedom, responsibility, and dialogue — and how these values form the essence of liberal politics. The session invited participants to analyse real-life examples, exchange perspectives, and think about the importance of balance between individual liberty and collective responsibility. This exchange of ideas set a strong foundation for the rest of the week, reminding everyone that liberalism is not just a concept to study, but a mindset to live and apply.

The Art of the Interview

Moving from theory to practice, the following day focused on communication — the cornerstone of any effective leader. Together with Ramzi Khoury, participants explored the art of the interview: how to formulate thoughtful questions, maintain clarity, and build authentic dialogue based on listening and understanding. The discussion shed light on how liberal values such as respect, empathy, and curiosity can guide meaningful communication, especially in the political sphere.

In the afternoon, participants transitioned to a practical exercise designed to translate the concepts discussed earlier into real experience. Together with Kais Zayadin, they stepped into a simulated interview environment — lights, camera, and questions ready. The exercise invited participants to take on both roles of interviewer and interviewee, encouraging them to think critically, communicate clearly, and maintain composure under pressure. It offered an authentic glimpse into what political dialogue feels like in practice, where clarity, empathy, and confidence must work together.

Putting Theory into Action

By the third day, teamwork and preparation filled the room. Participants refined their interview questions, exchanged feedback, and developed their projects with greater structure and intention. The space became one of collaboration and growth, where ideas evolved through dialogue rather than instruction. Every discussion deepened their understanding — not only of leadership and communication, but also of how liberal principles take shape through open exchange and collective reflection.

The exercise gave participants a deeper understanding of how preparation and dialogue can bridge ideas with real-world communication. Each conversation added a new layer of insight — about themselves, about leadership, and about what it means to apply liberal principles not in theory, but in practice.

Looking Ahead

As the second week came to an end, participants left with a stronger sense of confidence and connection — both with one another and with the principles at the heart of liberal democracy. The combination of thoughtful discussions and practical exercises gave them new tools to express their ideas and engage in dialogue grounded in freedom and respect.

With one final week ahead, the Naumann School of Politics moves closer to its goal: preparing a generation ready to lead through freedom, dialogue, and understanding.
