NYRI Holds Full-Day Meeting to Prepare for Field Phase

On September 15, 2025, the Naumann Youth Research Initiative (NYRI) brought together its members in Amman for a half-day meeting dedicated to advancing their research journey. The gathering served as both a checkpoint and a launchpad: participants reflected on the progress achieved so far, exchanged insights on challenges, and worked collectively on refining their methodologies. With the field phase of their studies approaching, the meeting provided an important opportunity to align efforts, strengthen research tools, and ensure that every project moves forward with clarity and purpose.

Sharing Progress and Strengthening Research

The day opened with presentations from the initiative’s research teams, each outlining the progress they had achieved to date and the obstacles they had faced in the process. These updates provided a valuable opportunity not only to showcase results but also to engage in critical reflection on the challenges that come with conducting youth-led research. The exchange fostered an atmosphere of constructive dialogue, where participants were able to discuss practical solutions, refine their approaches, and learn from one another’s experiences.

Following these discussions, a dedicated session on editing and harmonization brought the groups together to focus on the overall coherence of the initiative. By aligning structures, terminology, and methodologies, this session ensured that individual projects contribute to a unified body of work while maintaining high standards of quality and credibility.

Advancing Youth Research:

Training on Field Research

In the afternoon, NYRI members took part in an intensive training session dedicated to field research methods. Over the course of the session, they explored practical strategies for collecting reliable and representative data, engaging ethically and effectively with respondents, and designing tools capable of capturing meaningful insights.

The training combined theoretical input with hands-on guidance, giving members the confidence to move beyond desk-based work and into direct interaction with communities. By strengthening both technical skills and ethical awareness, the session ensured that the initiative is well prepared to conduct research that is not only rigorous but also respectful and impactful.

Action Plans and Next Steps

The closing part of the meeting was devoted to planning the road ahead. Each research team worked on translating their discussions into concrete action plans, setting clear milestones and assigning responsibilities to ensure steady progress. Timelines were mapped out in detail, providing structure and accountability for the months to come.

In addition to planning, the teams finalised their research tools, including questionnaires and data collection methods tailored to their respective topics. This step was critical in guaranteeing that every study not only addresses its central questions but also applies methods that are both effective and appropriate to the context.

By the end of the session, NYRI members left with a shared sense of direction and preparedness. With their plans in place and tools ready, the initiative is now positioned to enter its field phase with clarity, confidence, and a collective commitment to producing meaningful research outcomes.

A Platform for Youth-Driven Knowledge

The meeting reaffirmed the role of the Naumann Youth Research Initiative as more than just a research project. It is a platform where young people can develop their skills, exchange knowledge, and contribute to shaping informed perspectives on issues that matter to their societies. By combining rigorous academic approaches with practical training and collaborative learning, the initiative empowers its members to take ownership of their work and amplify their voices in public discourse.

As the initiative now advances toward its field phase, it does so with strengthened methodologies, carefully designed tools, and a shared commitment to producing insights that are both credible and impactful. The meeting marked not only a milestone in preparation but also a step forward in building a new generation of researchers dedicated to knowledge, freedom, and progress.
