The Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF) promotes democracy, human rights, economic freedom, and curbing climate change. Our South Korea project is focused on forward-looking topics such as smart cities and the 4th industrial revolution. The North Korea project organizes capacity-building programs in environmental planning and water management. We work with the Center for Local Autonomy, Hanyang University (CLA), Korea Local Information Research & Development Institute (KLID), and many other local partners. Global Europe – Global Expectations
Today, we are experiencing that the European Union and its model of democratic societies are losing their worldwide popularity. The growing global influence of actors with values, political systems, and worldviews that are diametrically opposing to those of the EU, as well as the renaissance of geopolitical blocs (as evidenced by the abstention of some states in the UN in condemning Russia's war of aggression), further reinforce this trend.

On November 10th 2022, FNF Korea and the Korean Society of Contemporary European Studies (KSCES) held a round table seminar at Jinjinsura Gwanghwamun in Seoul. The event aimed to offer opportunities to delve deeper into the current and future role of EU in the world to discuss strategic solutions to strengthen it.

An Overview of South Korean Media’s EU Representation before and after COVID-19
The Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom Southeast and East Asia and Prof. Sae Won Chung from Pukyong National University have collaborated to produce a policy paper entitled “Overviewing South Korean Media’s EU Representation before and after COVID-19: A Semantic Network Approach”. The paper aims to analyse the South Korean media representation of the EU pre- and post COVID-19 pandemic.
