Malaysia-China Bilateral Relations
Small nations play a significant role in the regional security of the Indo-Pacific. They may act as mediators and provide a channel of communication for rival great powers. China has begun flexing its muscles and is demonstrating its strength. Malaysia maintains a balance and hedges to avoid being either entrapped or abandoned. By transforming its Armed Forces to a navy-based force and by balancing its relationships with stronger nations Malaysia may overcome its security dilemma and ensure territorial sovereignty without engaging in conflict.

Global Europe – Global Expectations
Today, we are experiencing that the European Union and its model of democratic societies are losing their worldwide popularity. The growing global influence of actors with values, political systems, and worldviews that are diametrically opposing to those of the EU, as well as the renaissance of geopolitical blocs (as evidenced by the abstention of some states in the UN in condemning Russia's war of aggression), further reinforce this trend. Democracy is an inclusive process, and therefore in a functioning democracy, the points of view of different interest groups must be taken into account in formulating any decision.

IDEAS 7th Liberalism Conference
The world has been hit by a multitude of crises, from economic downturns to geopolitical instability. While Malaysia escaped the worst of these, the problem of an unstable government and a weak economy remains. In these unstable times, there is a yearning among the people for a more authoritarian and “stable” government, which some believe can steer the country back onto the right track.

Perception towards Liberalism in Malaysia 2016-2021
As a whole, liberalism as a word has not reached a wider proportion of the community as only half of the respondents have heard about the term itself. There are no significant changes in this aspect for the past five years as the percentage of the population who have heard about liberalism sustained around 50% except for year 2018 when the percentage of people who have heard of liberalism was at its highest (61%).
