Last Sunday, Portugal held elections for a new parliament. The election campaign in Portugal had a single theme: finding a constellation that would make the country governable. Most recently, the ruling Socialists ("Partido Socialista," PS) had failed to get the 2022 budget through parliament.

The assassination of Barrister Kemende at the wake of the great ongoing Africa football spectacle in Cameroon continues to raise a lot of dust on the question of insecurity and gross human rights violation that has plagued the two English speaking regions of the country for six years now. Sevan Nisanyan, a 66-year-old linguist and blogger was arrested on the island of Samos last week and faced deportation. He had been detained after Greek authorities refused to renew his residence permit. The court took the decision to release him on 7th of January with the obligation to leave Greece within two weeks.

Data Journalism School

Our data journalists in the making have been immersed in an intensive online program that prepares them to deal with data-driven stories. From gathering and collecting data, to cleaning, analysing, and visualizing the findings, 10 Lebanese and Syrian journalists will be able to acquire all the needed tools to present their own data stories at the end of the program.
