Memorandum "the Morocco we want"

In a 2017 speech, His Majesty King Mohammed VI called for a rethink of Morocco's development model, bringing it into line with the significant changes taking place today. Following on from this, he announced the creation of an ad hoc committee tasked with drawing up a draft of a new development model for Morocco, drawing on the input of numerous civil society organizations.

Flea Market - or Free Market?

Street vendors offer goods and services at competitive prices to the urban dwellers. As the government cannot allocate enough resources to formally oversee this sector, street vending represents a commercial system with little government intervention. To assess the business environment of street vendors, the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF Bangladesh) Dhaka office along with Chittagong University conducted a survey on street vending in the port city of Chittagong.

Attack on the Capitol: Biden Takes Over a Country Torn Apart

The saga of the seemingly never-ending presidential election reached an inglorious culmination yesterday. Traditionally, the U.S. Congress' certification process for the election results is a dry and formal affair. But this year, the day will go down in U.S. history as one of the most tumultuous days in U.S. domestic politics.

Ann Cathrin Riedel analyzes the consequences of online radicalization.

Why EU and ASEAN won’t seem to get a Free Trade Agreement anytime soon

In times of turmoil in international relations, the European Union has to find new regional trade partners - and ASEAN is a potential candidate. But even though there have been several rounds of discussions, an agreement is nowhere in sight. The road to an FTA between EU and ASEAN is long and bumpy. What are the reasons?

The Libyan Conflict: Turkey Flexing its Muscles

When the Libyan conflict started shortly after the assassination of former President of Libya Muammar Muhammad Abu Minyar al-Gaddafi, it was difficult to foresee this act of violence turning into an international conflict. Today, with the involvement of several regional powers including Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Syria, and...

Pakistan: Water Crisis is a Regional Political Challenge

Since its independence in 1947, Pakistan has faced many political and economic challenges. Among others, one of the major and long-term challenges for Pakistan is neither extremism nor terrorism, but the lethal combination of climate change and a rapidly growing population. Both these issues are influencing water resource- scarcity on the one hand and monsoon flash floods on the other.
