Belarus is perceived as the supporter and even co-aggressor in Russia’s war against Ukraine. Since the beginning of the war, Russian Army has used Belarus as a deployment area for its attacks on Ukraine. How far will Lukashenka's support go? What does Belarusian society think about the war? And how can Belarusian democratic movement influence the perception of Belarus in Europe and strengthen the relations with Ukraine? Victoria Leukavets, Reseacher at the Stockholm Centre for Eastern Europeans Studies (SCEEUS), will explain political changes and continuities of the last twelve months in Belarus. The talk is moderated by Anna Kravtšenko, Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom's Project Director for Ukraine and Belarus based in Kyiv.

About our series „Neighbouring Russia“: How did Russia's neighboring countries react one year after the full scale attack on Ukraine? That is what the Friedrich Naumann Foundation wants to explore in a twelve-part virtual series of events. Together with international experts, we examine individual countries or regions and discuss important domestic and foreign policy processes.
