A Podcast for Women by Women
The all-female podcast, "Kapihan with My Sis", is celebrating a major win after successfully relaunching in partnership with FNF Philippines. Originally launched by Kababihang Liberal, the show, which tackles diverse topics like history, politics, and current affairs, underwent a redesign in early January 2025. This move proved highly successful, with the production of seven high-quality episodes and a peak viewership of 34,000. The podcast has now announced it will continue producing new episodes.

Stories at the Village Spark Change
Many women and children, especially the disadvantaged, in urban and rural villages in the Philippines, are usually unaware of their rights under a democracy. Thus, in April 2025, with financial support from FNF Philippines, Liberal Women, an organization of women bounded by their belief in democracy, freedom, justice, and collaboration started a program called “Kwentuhan sa Barangay” (KSB) or Story-telling at the Village.

PEOPLE HELPING PEOPLE: Learning Seminar on HRBA in Local Community Governance: Building Rights-Based Leadership Among Elected Youth Leaders in Tanay, Rizal
The Commission on Human Rights (CHR) and the Friedrich Naumann Foundation (FNF) Philippines, in partnership with the Municipal Government of Tanay, Rizal, organized a four-day learning seminar on the human rights-based approach (HRBA) to local community governance. Held in Cristina Villas Mountain Resort and Hotel from September 15 to 18, 2025, the activity gathered 29 youth leaders from the municipality to strengthen their knowledge and skills in rights-based governance and project development.

In just five years, the Philippines will officially be an aging society. That should surprise—and worry us. After all, this is still a country where half the population is under 25. Yet in 2020, there were already 9.24 million senior citizens (60 years and above), or 8.5% of the population. By 2066, one in five Filipinos will be elderly.

Democracy will not survive when 9 out of 10 Filipino children can’t read properly. In the Philippines, this is not just a rhetorical statement. A 2022 World Bank report found that 91% of 10-year-olds in the country cannot read and understand a simple story.

The event “The Ukraine War, its Solution and Their Implications for the Philippines – A Panel Discussion” was organized by the Friedrich-Naumann-Foundation Philippines on 29 August 2025 at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila. The panel featured Her Excellency Yulia Fediiv, Ambassador of Ukraine to the Philippines; Commodore Jay Tristan Tarriela, Spokesperson for the West Philippine Sea of the Philippine Coast Guard; and Professor Dennis Coronacion, Chair of the Department of Political Science at the University of Santo Tomas.
