Survey of Selangor Residents’ Knowledge and Awareness about Local Councils & KUASA Recommendation
Local councils are bureaucracies without community involvement in decision making or policy direction. Residents have no meaningful way to engage constructively with their councils. Ultimately, only 0.7% (or six persons) from the 858 respondents knew their mayor/council president’s name. Pihak Berkuasa Tempatan (PBT) or Local Authority Selangor Survey is an initiative from KUASA (Association to raise the voice of the people). The survey was conducted from April to June of 2023 as initiative from KUASA with the objective of creating a real understanding of the knowledge, interests, pain points and perceived impact the population of Selangor has of its local councils.
Asia Liberty Forum 2023
The Asia Liberty Forum (ALF) 2023 is a forum by Atlas Network and this year co-hosted by Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs (IDEAS). The forum took place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and held from 07 – 08 September 2023. My Transformative Journey to become a Human Rights Defender
My time in Strasbourg, France was an incredible, productive and memorable experience. There were 15 of us that had been selected by FNF, from different parts of the world which made the entire learning (and social) experience more enriching. rom intensive seminars to challenging examinations, the experience fortified my resolve to be a steadfast human rights defender, armed not only with knowledge but also with the unyielding determination to advocate for justice and the dignity of all.
