Promoting Entrepreneurship and Open Market
IAF Participants outside the Hamburg Town Hall with the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce President (centre in tie) Tobias Bergmann © FNF Malaysia

For the seminar, I spent 12 Days in Gummersbach which included two trips, a day long in Cologne and a three days stay in Hamburg. The seminar was facilitated by Sarin Jyothy Sarinthorn and Julian Kircherr.

The best part of the sessions was being able to have discussions with the key movers in regards to start-up ecosystems in both Cologne and Hamburg. These provide some critical ideas on how to promote further start-ups and entrepreneurship in Malaysia, in the future.

The input sessions from the course, however, from the side of open markets was rudimentary and lacked an intellectual depth. This is not the course facilitators as much as there were people with very limited knowledge about open markets, and therefore the material and discussions had to be catered to them.

The organisation side of the centre and the various logistics were efficient and spot on. It was well-run, from catering, to facility stay and services.
