#YouthDay 46 Years Later! Do We Still Remember, Do We Still Care?
To commemorate 46 years since the historical #SowetoUprising of 16 June 1976, FNF's Cape Town liberal workshop is to release a series of eight video profiles. The series captures the thoughts and perspectives of 46 South African YOUTH in the present day. Do they still remember, do they still care? The #SowetoUprising was a massive series of demonstrations against the Apartheid government's policy of using the Afrikaans language as the medium of instruction in Soweto's High Schools. An estimated 20,000 students took part in the protests. Teargas and live ammunition was used on the protesting learners and at least 176 were killed.
