Lawmakers, government officials, and key stakeholders gathered in Quezon City on August 2025 for a briefing on the proposed 2026 National Expenditure Program. The event aimed to help participants understand how government funds will be allocated for programs, projects, and services in the coming year.

The briefing followed the passage of the 2025 national budget and focused on continuing discussions about the country’s spending priorities. Experts and participants reviewed the economic assumptions behind the budget, including expected growth, inflation, employment, and other key indicators that affect everyday Filipinos.

Organizers highlighted the importance of transparency and accountability in government spending, noting that open discussions help ensure resources are used effectively to support development, reduce inequalities, and improve public services.

The event brought together members of the House of Representatives led by Atty. Leila De Lima and Cong. Krisel Lagman, legislative staff, party officials, and representatives from civil society groups. Participants discussed sectoral allocations, fiscal risks such as rising prices or revenue gaps, and areas that may require additional support.

The briefing was conducted through research presentations with at least 30 attendees, including high-level decision-makers such as budget officers, economic planners, and department heads.
