Students from Miriam College and St. Bridget School attended the meaningful event, which aimed to share stories of Martial Law through the eyes of young writers. The books were brought to life through the efforts of SBS Idiniyale of St. Bridget School and The Magnificat of Miriam College, with Ms. Joyce Crisanto serving as project adviser, and support from the Friedrich Naumann Foundation (FNF).

This launch marked Phase 2 of Project Alaala. The first phase took place last February with the release of their debut book, “Anna.”

Dr. Almut Besold of FNF gave the welcome remarks, highlighting the importance of remembering history:
"Martial Law is a dark chapter of our past. It left behind pain, tears, and hardship. Writing about it requires courage and heart. I admire the students who wrote these stories because they are brave and champions of change. As you read the stories of Anna, Anton, Mario, and Dindo, I hope you will learn something valuable and keep these lessons in your hearts."

After the introduction of the student co-creators, excerpts from the books were read, giving attendees a glimpse of the stories and experiences captured in each work. The event concluded with the story of Mr. Rolando Lirojo, a Martial Law survivor, leaving the students with a firsthand account of the challenges and resilience of those who lived through that period.

Organizers said the event aimed to ensure that the lessons of history remain alive and accessible, encouraging young people to reflect on the past while advocating for truth, justice, and hope.
