Malaysiakini Triumphs at Malaysia Journalism Awards 2024: A Win for Progressive Reporting

© Malaysian Press InstituteOur longstanding media partner, Malaysiakini, has once again demonstrated exceptional journalistic excellence by winning four gold awards at the MPI-Petronas Malaysia Journalism Awards 2024 last week.
One of the standout wins was for Best Video Show, awarded to a segment of their Lapang Dada (translated: Open-Minded) talk show in Bahasa Malaysia, titled "Rakyat Tanpa Kerakyatan di Malaysia: Adakah Ini Masanya Untuk Dihentikan?" ("Statelessness in Malaysia: Time to End It?"). The episode featured a thoughtful dialogue between a politician and representatives from state institutions, addressing the pressing human rights issue of statelessness in Malaysia. The discussion highlighted the struggles of thousands of individuals living without legal identity and emphasized the urgent need for reform.
