As the liberal German political foundation, we help promote freedom and responsibility in our project countries by means of political education. We support like-minded partners in politics, civil society, media and science in their pursuit of an open society, the rule of law, the enforcement of universal human rights and a rule-based market economy. In addition, we create opportunities for exchange and dialogue with liberal forces across Europe and worldwide.

VR exhibition “Unbreakable Ukraine” at Café Kyiv Berlin
On February 23, on the eve of the fourth anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Berlin hosted the most outstanding event on Ukraine in Europe Café Kyiv. With the support of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom, the NGO Living the War brought the truth about Russia’s war against Ukraine to Berlin for the second time.

War in Ukraine - Oleh Baturin on the Russian Terror
Beaten, interrogated and cut off from the outside world, Oleh Baturin describes how Russian forces turned occupied Kherson into a landscape of fear and repression. Detained without explanation in March 2022, he endured violence, psychological pressure and relentless propaganda designed to break prisoners before any charges were even fabricated. His account offers a stark insight into the system of terror imposed on civilians under Russian occupation.
