About Café Kyiv

On February 23, on the eve of the fourth anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Berlin hosted the most outstanding event on Ukraine in Europe  Café Kyiv.

Café Kyiv is an annual international initiative of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, launched in 2023 in Berlin. It is a high-level forum that brings together politics, culture, and business to support Ukraine, discuss its European future, and promote freedom. Café Kyiv provides a platform to express solidarity with Ukraine in the face of Russian war, with a focus on society, reconstruction, and democratic development. The event is organized in numerous partner organizations and includes panel discussions, policy debates, exhibitions and film screenings.

This year, for the first time, the event was opened by German Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz. In his speech, the politician expressed his support for Ukraine, condemned Russia’s actions and stated that the war in Ukraine will end only when “Russia no longer sees any reason to continue it and the price of this madness becomes too high for Putin.”

VR exhibition “Unbreakable Ukraine”

With the support of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom, the NGO Living the War brought the truth about Russia’s war against Ukraine to Berlin for the second time.

Guests of Café Kyiv immersed themselves in the reality of war through the virtual reality exhibition “Living the War – Unbreakable Ukraine.” The exhibition featured a documentary VR film about life in Ukrainian cities in 2025, portraying the reality of war and the resilience of society. The film highlights reconstruction efforts and everyday life in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Mykolaiv, Kryvyi Rih, and Odesa.

Around 250 people experienced the VR film firsthand, while many more visited our stand and scanned QR codes to explore 360-degree images from Ukraine.

We thank everyone who stopped by our stand and continues to support Ukraine.
