FNF Europe Event Explores Liberal Perspectives on Ukrainian Integration

On 6 December, FNF Europe hosted the event “Liberals Leading the Way to Ukrainian Integration” in the FNF office. Following the recent adoption of the European Commission’s 2023 Enlargement Package on 8 November, the event build on the recommendation to open accession negotiations with Ukraine (which still needs to be voted on by EU Member States).Our great speaker line-up featured Kira Rudik, Member of the Ukrainian Parliament and Vice-President of ALDE Party, MEP Roza Thun-Hohenstein, MEP Klemen Grošelj, and Thomas Hagleitner from the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Neighborhood and Enlargement (DG NEAR), moderated by Helmut Brandstätter, Member of the Austrian Parliament and President of the Austria – Ukraine interparliamentary group.

The very lively discussion between speakers was complemented by a video address of Olha Stefanishyna, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine. Furthermore, the over 50 participants engaged in an active question and answer session.
