EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA)

About The Publication

At the time of its implementation in mid-2020, the free trade agreement between the European Union and Vietnam (EVFTA in short) was seen as the “most ambitious” and “most comprehensive” new generation agreement that the EU has signed ned with a developing economy. As such, the trade deal is expected to bring in unprecedented opportunities and challenges to Vietnam. For European observers, the deal marks an important step for the EU into the dynamic developing Asia region, where previously the presence of the bloc was relatively lackluster (with only three new generation FTAs with the developed economies of Singapore, Korea, and Japan).
