Call for Partnerships: Innovate towards Smarter Mobility for Freedom!

Call for Partnerships: Smart Mobility

FNF Philippines is seeking partners for exciting projects and campaigns highlighting and promoting smarter mobility as a key factor toward smart cities.

Background

Transport is the third-largest producer of greenhouse gases in the Philippines. Traffic jams cost 3.5 billion pesos a day. The current transport policy hardly takes public transport, bike paths, and pedestrian possibilities into account. The rising cost of fuel prices could take a bite out of economic growth, force lower consumption, and in some cases trigger political unrest. Hence, a  liberal transport policy is necessary: it must enable citizens to choose between different modes of transport.

Who we are

The Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF) is a German foundation that is at home in 60 countries around the world. At FNF, we and our partners promote freedom, liberalism, democracy, human rights, economic freedom, rule of law, and also curb climate change. We work with government institutions, NGOs, academia, political parties, researchers, students, journalists, activists, start-ups, and artists who share the same values and want to join the work for freedom.

What is the programme about

In 2019, FNF Philippines started working on introducing the concept of smart and sustainable cities anchored on innovation and active citizens’ participation through workshops, public events, and, due to the pandemic, online events, in line with the German Climate Agenda.

Now on its fourth year, we are looking to create an impact on decreasing carbon footprint with a more specific theme and a relatable one to our Filipino and German audiences: SMART AND PEOPLE-CENTERED MOBILITY.

What are we looking for

It is an open call for research papers, projects and campaigns highlighting ways on how the transport sector could be improved and how it could contribute to the reduction of carbon emissions and economic freedom.

Possible themes for collaboration include:

  • promotion of smart mobility initiatives in the Philippines
  • active and people-centered transport system
  • mobility rights
  • impacts of renewable energy sector on the transport industry (e.g. modernization of public transport)
  • data-driven transport policies
  • mitigating climate change in transport

Who can participate

These partnerships will gather experts and stakeholders (smart mobility advocates, local government units, etc) in the field of transport and provide platforms for sectors allowing raising public awareness on the topic. These will also lead to policy papers in aid of legislation and a call to action for smarter mobility in the country.

How to apply

Submit a proposal stating thoroughly the background, objectives, indicators, detailed communications plan (if applicable), timeline and budget. Please ensure that the execution of the programs would fall under the category of ‘political education and is aligned with the aforementioned themes. Lastly, projects must be rolled out this year and must be completed on/or before November 2022.
