Launch of the MENA Media Hub to Support Liberal Journalism Across the Region
Amman, Jordan – July 2025

The Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF) is proud to announce the launch of the MENA Media Hub, the inaugural flagship program of its new regional initiative. This program marks a significant step toward amplifying liberal voices in media throughout the Middle East and North Africa.

Developed in partnership with Naqid, the MENA Media Hub is designed to empower a new generation of journalists who are committed to advancing the values of freedom, democracy, and human rights. The program will bring together 12 to 14 liberal-minded journalists from Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Tunisia, Egypt, and Morocco, offering them an opportunity to strengthen their skills and expand their impact across the region.

A Two-Phase Capacity-Building Program

The MENA Media Hub consists of two key components:

In-Person Training Workshop
Scheduled to take place from July 17 to 19, 2025, in Amman, Jordan, the three-day intensive training will focus on:

  • Storytelling for democratic values
  • Strategic liberal messaging
  • Digital media tools and content development
  • Combating censorship and disinformation

Ongoing Mentorship and Support
Following the workshop, participants will engage in a mentorship phase lasting from July through December 2025. This component will provide tailored online coaching, feedback, and continuous support as participants apply their new skills and produce liberal-oriented content.

Driving Impact Through Media
Throughout the program, participants will be tasked with producing original content, ranging from articles and videos to podcasts and social media campaigns, that highlights liberal values, success stories, and the broader mission of the region’s liberal networks.

As the first program under the MENA Networks Institute for Freedom, the MENA Media Hub seeks to establish a dynamic, collaborative community of media professionals dedicated to reshaping public discourse in support of liberty, pluralism, and democratic development.
