FNF Brings Together Liberal Voices for Annual Ramadan Gathering
The Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom - Jordan once again reinforced its commitment to open dialogue and liberal values in the region by hosting its Annual Political Iftar in Amman, on Monday, March 9th, 2026.
The evening commenced with the annual meeting of the Jordanian Club of Humboldt Fellows, bringing together a distinguished network of scholars and professionals dedicated to academic exchange and international cooperation.
As the sun set, the gathering expanded for the main Iftar event, welcoming a diverse assembly of alumni, long-standing partners, and members of the liberal family in Jordan.
The formal program began with opening remarks by Jörg Dehnert, Regional Director of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for the Middle East and North Africa, followed by Guido Kimmerling, Chargé d'Affaires of the German Embassy in Amman. In their address, both delivered a strong commendation of Jordan's steady and wise policies amid the ongoing regional tensions, amplifying the Kingdom’s vital role as a hub of stability and a voice of moderation, and acknowledging the challenges Jordan faces while praising its leadership's commitment to peace.
Following the breaking of the fast, the atmosphere transitioned seamlessly from formal remarks to vibrant engagement. As is the tradition at FNF gatherings, the discussions continued late into the evening. Guests engaged in engrossing political conversations, networking, and the exchange of ideas—a true testament to the Foundation’s mission to foster dialogue that transcends borders and builds bridges of understanding.
The evening served as a powerful reminder of the deep ties between Germany and Jordan, and the shared commitment to liberal democracy, even in turbulent times.
