Empowering Jordan's Youth through the Naumann School of Politics

The Naumann School of Politics (NSOP), held from July 30th to August 3rd in Amman, came at a crucial time for Jordan. With the 2024 parliamentary elections approaching and significant amendments to electoral and political parties' laws aimed at increasing youth and women participation, this period marks a crucial phase in Jordan's democratic evolution.

NSOP played a vital role in equipping young participants with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate Jordan's political landscape. The project fostered an environment for open discussions, enhancing participants' understanding of Jordan's political system, foreign policy, and electoral laws. This initiative also underscored the importance of civil society in shaping a democratic future, providing a safe space for free engagement.

Participants engaged in various sessions covering diplomacy, policy, foreign affairs, crisis management, and international relations. The program's significance was further highlighted by its delivery in English, allowing participants from diverse backgrounds to improve their language skills and engage in meaningful discussions.

During the sessions, distinguished guest speakers enriched the participants’ experience. Dr. Yousef Mansour, former Minister of Economy, shared insights on policy-making and economic challenges. Dr. Hassan Al-Momani, Dean of the School of International Relations at the University of Jordan, explored international relations theories. Additionally, Mr. Ulrich Lechte, Spokesperson for Foreign Policy of FDP parliamentary group in German Bundestag, discussed FDP policies and the youth participation in politics, offering a comparative perspective.

The NSOP project successfully raises awareness, creates knowledgeable communities, and empowers participants to envision a prosperous future. FNF seeks to continue this program in order to foster more inclusive and engaging discussions among Jordan's youth.
