Upholding these rights is a core obligation of the EU, enshrined in its founding treaties. As a strong advocate of fundamental rights and the rule of law across the world, as well as within its own borders, the EU works to counter both new and persistent threats to essential freedoms. Despite significant progress, challenges such as democratic backsliding and attacks on essential liberties remain a reality in today’s world that must be addressed. FNF Europe supports the EU’s efforts by promoting fundamental rights, democracy, and the rule of law—advocating for resilient, inclusive societies and a more just, stable world.
