How does smart city improve the quality of life, and how does it respond to the pandemic? Two successful cases to answer the questions were presented at a forum in Busan city which took place on July 16.

The “Busan Smart City Forum” is a series of seminars focusing various issues related to smart city and jointly organized by Busan Development Institute (BDI), Busan IT Promotion Agency (BIPA), Busan Center for Creative Economy & Innovation (BCCEI), and  Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom.

Due to the COVID 19, the event on July 16 was the first program in this year. Strictkly respecting preventive measures against the virus, the event was live-streamed on Facebook with only about 20 audiences on site.

During the presentation, Chang-ho Shin, Director of Future Industry Bureau of Busan Metropolitan City, explained a 'Challenge Project' on how to implement a barrier-free traffic environment in Busan city, reflecting geographical and demographic conditions of the city. Meanwhile, the second presentation by Sanghoon Lee, Managing Director of Korea Agency of Infrastructure Technology Advancement (KAIA), focused on Korea's successful disease control system. He explained how smart city systems could be used to deal with the Covid-19 situation in detail.

FNF Korea has been working on smart cities and the 4th industrial revolution since 2016.  Encouraged by the success forum organization through Facebook live-streaming, FNF Korea will organize more programs on the topic in the online format.

Next Busan Smart City Forum will take place in August.
