Women in politics are essential for advancing human rights and protecting political freedoms.  

Each year, Liberal International (LI) and Democraten 66 (D66) host a weekend-long training in the MENA region to learn from experts, discuss overcoming barriers to women’s leadership, and form a network of leaders. This training is based on the LI’s Women in Political Parties Index findings, a first-of-its-kind tool to evaluate gender inclusivity in political parties. 

To help increase women’s political participation and leadership, D66 together with LI is organizing its training workshop: Empow(HER) 2023, this year on the theme: Women in Peace, Security, and Defense. The workshop will provide training resources and build supportive networks. Applications are now OPEN! 

The training will be held in Istanbul, Türkiye from December 1-4, 2023. We will cover the travel, accommodation, and meals during this training program.
