Cartoons: Cyber and Privacy Safety in Myanmar

FNF Myanmar is publishing cartoons on cyber and privacy safety issues in Myanmar together with local companies called Cyberbaykin and Krenellix after consulting with famous cartoonists in the country.

Cyberbaykin gathered cartoonists to discuss about privacy and cyber safety issues in Myanmar. This workshop was supported by Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom, Myanmar Office.

“We are going to publish cartoons on privacy and cyber safety and distribute them online as well,” said Ye Thura Thet, a founder of Cyberbaykin.

It is meant to educate the public, through cartoons, on digital safety and privacy issues concerning the wide spread of smart and android phone usage in Myanmar.

“FNF Myanmar wants to promote literacy on privacy and digital issues at this technology age and this is one of FNF Myanmar’s objectives this year.”

Hnin Wint Naing, Executive Programme Manager of FNF Myanmar, said, “A collaborated project of publishing cartoons with Cyberbaykin is one of FNF’s core activities this year.”

FNF Myanmar held a joint workshop with Cyberbaykin on the topic “Privacy in the Digital Age” on February 20. This workshop is also supported by Myanmar Cartoonist Association.

Approximately 30 cartoonists are invited to draw cartoons on the issues, such as which individual information should be shared, the public opinion on privacy in today’s Myanmar and the impact of technology development on privacy matters.
