Rwanda & DR Congo Heads Meet Amid Rising Tension

Presidents of Rwanda & DRC meet with AU Chair, Senegalese President Macky Sall amid rising cross boarder tensions. Hundreds are protesting in the DRC accusing Rwanda of supporting the M23 rebels in renewed fighting in eastern DR Congo. M23 violence has reignited tensions, exacerbated by the detention of two Rwandan soldiers in Congo. Rwanda’s government denies backing M23. Thousands have fled their homes as a result of the fighting in North Kivu province. We support the call by President Macky Sall for mediation for a speedy resolution to this plight.
