New Impulses for Stagnant Relationships - German-French Ministerial Council Meets in a New Format
Against the backdrop of the current relationship between Germany and France and a multitude of differences in various areas such as defense, industry, and energy policies, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz invited French President Emmanuel Macron and a portion of his cabinet to a German-French retreat in Hamburg on October 9th and 10th. The informal working discussions were aimed at mitigating existing tensions rather than making high-profile public declarations.
