Higher Institute of Information and Communication (ISIC)

The first Moroccan highschool for Journalists
ISIC

The High School of Information and Communication is the oldest Moroccan university specialising in journalism and communication and still the only public educational institution in this field.

It was founded in 1969 by the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom in cooperation with the Moroccan government, at that time still under the name "Centre de Formation des Journalistes (CFJ)". The task of the newly founded Hoschule was to provide professional training for media professionals in print, radio and television, but also in the state press agency.

In September 1977, the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom handed over the institute in its entirety to the Moroccan Ministry of Information and the CFJ officially became the Journalism Hoschule: a public higher education institution specialising in training for journalistic professions.

ISIC has trained thousands of Moroccan journalists to date and is still a close partner of the Foundation in Morocco, for example in the training of bloggers and influencers or the fight against fake news.
