Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom Myanmar awards the media organization Myanmar Now with the Digital Courage Fellowship 2020. The media house can use the grant amounting to 2000 USD for a in-depth research on a freedom related topic.

“The editors of Myanmar Now excelled through investigative research and can serve as a role model for digital publishing”, says Dr. Aung Thu Hein, Executive Programme Manager of Friedrich Naumann Foundation Myanmar. “We are convinced the grant will lead to inspiring and exciting content.”

With the award, FNF Myanmar acknowledges the work of digital change makers. The winners are chosen based on the nominations received by FNF Myanmar and the following criteria: They must have an outstanding record of making a positive change for the people in the digital society or by using digital technology. Nominees must be Myanmar citizens or an organization formed by Myanmar citizens.

In 2019, FNF Myanmar awarded Digital Courage Fellowship to U Ye Myat Thu, the creator of Zawgyi Font. In 2018, MIDO (Myanmar ICT Development Organization) received the Digital Courage Fellowship.
