Naumann Foundation relocates Global Innovation Hub to Taipei

The Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom will relocate its Global Innovation Hub to Taipei (Taiwan) in early 2021. Previously, the foundation closed its office in Hong Kong.

With its political stability and its democratic, pluralistic and liberal society, Taiwan offers ideal conditions for the work of the Global Innovation Hub. Taiwan is an internationally recognized pioneer in the field of digitalization. Its modern administration and progressive start-up culture are a global role model. With the establishment of the Democratic Progressive Party in 1986, a successful liberal party has existed in Taiwan for years. The DPP is also a member of Liberal International (LI) and the Council of Asian Liberals and Democrats (CALD).

"The Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom opened its first office in Asia in 1969. Since then, the region has developed rapidly – today Asian countries are pioneers in the fields of digital society and e-governance. With our new office, we want to embrace innovations dynamically and set trends ourselves, rather than simply reacting. Taiwan offers the best conditions for this," says Prof. Karl-Heinz Paqué, Chairman of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom.

About the Global Innovation Hub

The Global Innovation Hub of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom was first opened in July 2019 in Hong Kong. The hub aims to serve as a catalyst for digital projects in order to strengthen democracy and open society and to support the Friedrich Naumann Foundation on its way to becoming a creative innovation platform for liberalism.
