WORKSHOP "Facilitating production - business towards recovery and growth in a new normal"

Report on the Household Business - FNF Vietnam 2021

On October 15th 2021, FNF Viet Nam in collaboration with Vietnam Institute for Economic and Policy Research (VEPR), an affiliate of VNU/University of Economics and Business and BIDV’s Training and Research Institute (BTRI), co-organised a report launching workshop entitled “Facilitating production – business: Solutions for Vietnamese household business”.

The workshop is part of activities in the framework of the cooperation project "Supporting for SMEs and household business in Vietnam". Based on 1.016 respondents coming from the household business sector, our research team examined the needs of the business model, challenges they meet to do business, and their expectations about boosting productivity.

At the workshop, the speakers presented the research results with 2 main contents: 1) Overview of the household business model in Vietnam and global and 2) Survey results on production and business situation and challenges of the household business. In the 2nd part, Dr. Pham Hung Tien, Deputy Director of the FNF Vietnam has moderated a roundtable on: "Facilitating the household business activities towards recovery and growth in the new normal."

Based on the obtained survey results, the research team has pointed out the impacts affecting business performance and made some recommendations to create a favourable legal framework as well as appropriate support policies for the recovery and development of this business model.

The workshop had presentations by:

  • Dr. Nguyen Quoc Viet, Deputy Director of the Institute for Economic and Policy Research (VEPR), University of Economics, Vietnam National University, Hanoi. 
  • Dr. Can Van Luc, Senior Advisor to the Chairman of the Board of Directors (Deputy General Director) of BIDV Bank and Director of the BIDV Research and Training Institute. 
  • Dr. Pham Hung Tien, Deputy Director of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom in Vietnam and program manager. 

The seminar was held online at 8:30' on October 15, 2021 through live-stream simultaneously on two Facebook channels of VEPR Institute and FNF in Vietnam.
